Analyze Your Dreams
I have the weirdest dreams and many of them are jam-packed with juicy insights for personal growth. I started to pay attention to them about 10 years ago and used various dream books to assist me with the interpretation. I still journal many of my dreams but now I rely on my intuitive interpretation. A few days ago I had a dream that did an amazing job of showing me the importance of why I need to open myself up to doing more coaching.
For a couple of years now I’ve simply wanted to focus on my presentations, workshops, and emceeing, and I just recently started to ponder the idea of promoting my coaching sessions. My dream reminded me of just how many people are unable to move forward. When we are sad, angry, guilty, jealous, or simply stressed we create dense, heavy, negative energy in our bodies. This dense energy attracts more experiences that result in more of the same dense energy. If we can’t flip our thought patterns, we are stuck in this never-ending cycle of unhappiness. When we are in this dense energetic space, we look at the world through thick, vaseline-smeared glasses. We live in a distorted reality!
Sometimes we need help from an unbiased person to get us back on track. What normally happens is this: you call a friend or family member (if you are a communicator) and talk to them about the situation, they take your side (to be a “good friend”), they try to feel what you are feeling by matching your emotional state (to be “compassionate”), and they end up fueling your negative energy… OR if you are not a communicator, you push your feelings down and immerse yourself in another area of your life such as your work, your hobby, your exercise, or your addiction… OR you simply bitch about the person or situation in your head and keep the cycle of negative energy going every time you think about it.
Another scenario, one that I’m personally familiar with, I call “The Optimist with Their Blinders On”. This is the person who sees the good in all situations. They are great at finding a way to be okay with whatever has been dished out to them. It’s wonderful to be optimistic. The problem lies in the resentment, anger, fear, or sadness that is never dealt with; if this person were to dig deep, they might find how unhappy they actually are.
I’m very lucky in that I have a few friends who are non-judgmental, unbiased, and intuitive healers. They are honest with me, to the point, and I feel absolutely comfortable revealing my fears and anguish to them.
My dream reminded me that there are a lot of people who don’t have that type of support and that I have an amazing gift to share with people: my ability to help release old patterning through the power of laughter.
If you feel unhappy in one or more areas of your life, I recommend finding an unbiased, non-judgmental person to talk to–preferably someone who is willing to help you to flip your thought patterns. Your thoughts CREATE your REALITY. Findsomeone you connect with!
Let me leave you with a tip: Record Your Dreams to receive your own juicy insights.
How to do it: As soon as you wake up, try not to move, grab a journal and pen, and immediately write down what you remember. To assist with your dream interpretation, you can start with a dream book. (Go to Indigo or a library and see what book jumps out at you.) Your goal will be to lose the book and get used to trusting your personal interpretation.
Interpretation tips that have helped me: Every person in your dream represents YOU. What does that person mean to you? What qualities do they have that you need more of or less of? I also find that when I explain the dream to someone else the meaning falls into place, so share your dreams with non-judgmental friends or family members. Stay tuned for a dream discussion board, where you will be able to share your dreams and interpretation insights with other dream enthusiasts.
Bedtime will now mean a lot more than sleeping. While you sleep you are gaining insights for personal growth, and when you wake you can bring the insights to your consciousness. Sweet Dreams!
