Part 3 Swimming at Provincials

April 9th, 2011

In my first blog about swimming I explained how when I first starting swimming competitively as a child and later in high school, I wasn’t fast and regularly finished last in my heat. Even though I enjoyed swimming tremendously I developed a negative thought pattern associated with swimming: “I’m not fast”. Well, this year I had an opportunity to prove myself wrong. At the age of 40 I was racing again, but this time I was coming from a place of confidence, determination and with a goal of simply doing the best that I could.

Pre-provincials our coach timed us for each of our events. I knew I would most likely shave off a couple of seconds from my times with the adrenalin and sheer excitement of the meet.

I blew my times away!!! Having the confidence that I have now, the determination to prove myself wrong, and the ability to consciously work with ‘Energy’ for performance, I shaved several seconds off my times. I took 13 seconds off of my 200 freestyle!! For me this was a huge accomplishment.

Do you have some fears you’ve been holding onto since child hood, negative thought patterns that have been preventing you from fully achieving your goals? Are you ready for your life to come full circle?

I know you can do it!
